Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on how we work, what we do, and how to begin.
Who do you work with?
Indigenous entrepreneurs and Indigenous owned businesses across Canada, from operating companies and development corporations to enterprises planning a raise or an acquisition. The work suits businesses that have outgrown a startup program but are not always well understood by a mainstream bank.
Do you lend money directly?
No. We are an advisory firm, not a lender. We structure and package your file, then run a managed process across the lenders and programs most likely to fund it, from Indigenous Financial Institutions to Crown programs, banks, and private capital.
What does non-dilutive capital mean?
Capital that does not cost you ownership. Grants, contribution agreements, and loan guarantees are non-dilutive. We usually sequence these before debt, because they lower the amount you need to borrow and can change the price of the loan that follows.
How do you protect confidentiality?
Client identities and details are never disclosed without explicit approval. Case studies on this site are anonymized, and no transaction values or client names are published unless a client has approved them.
How are engagements priced?
It depends on the work. Debt and capital raises are typically a retainer plus a success fee. Diligence and modelling are usually fixed fee by scope. Fractional and advisory roles are ongoing. We confirm the structure in writing before any engagement begins.
Do we need to be verified as Indigenous owned?
For most Indigenous-specific programs, yes, verification is required up front. If yours is in progress, we can still map a route, and where ownership is below the thresholds those programs require, we run the file through commercial and Crown lenders instead.
Where do you work?
We are based in Edmonton on Treaty 6 territory and serve Indigenous owned businesses across every province and territory in Canada.
How do we start?
Take the capital assessment for an indicative read, or start a capital conversation directly. The first conversation is confidential and there is no obligation.
